mapFeeder™: Fire Departments

FireStats specializes in the  analysis of fire service data and teaching fire services officers how to apply various statistical measures on their own department’s operations data to measure response efficiency, identify engine-company level performance issues and aid in logistics planning and resource placement.

In 2009, FireStats asked Flat Rock Geographics to add mapping capabilities to their web-based analysis tools.  Built on the mapFeeder™ platform, users now interactively select and map incidents for specific geographic areas, view and analyze the results.

Each month data is retrieved from the Emergency 911 Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD).  By selecting different items from the form and drawing areas on the map, users can answer such questions as:

• Incident types and where they occurred.
• What resources were dispatched?
• Are mutual aid responses clustered or sparse?
• Which vehicles were first on scene?
• How long did it take to arrive on scene.
• Average length of responses in specific areas.
• Export results as a spreadsheet for additional analysis.
